Skill building work may include teaching a parent how to prepare nutritious and balanced meals, budgeting, how to structure their time in a productive manner, (time for homework, quality time for self/family, work, chores, etc.).

The FIT can model and teach effective communication skills, how to resolve conflicts in a positive manner and how these skills can help modify behaviors in children. The team will also teach the use of praise, positive reinforcement, guidance, discipline, setting obtainable goals for self and others. This approach will make expectations reasonable and limit setting possible.
